QCWA Country Kitchens

For almost a century, the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) has been supporting women from all over Queensland to come together for many different reasons, whether it is about meeting new people, making new friends, learning new skills, getting involved in the community. The QCWA has been at the forefront of any need to assist women and families during times of crisis, including drought and bushfires and other events.

The QCWA vision has been for the women of Queensland to come together to support their communities, while celebrating their interests and forging friendships in a respectful and caring environment. Now, more than ever we need to rally and support our families and communities.

The Country Kitchens program supports that vision and through a partnership between the QCWA and the Queensland Government the program provides QCWA members with the skills and confidence to improve the health of their communities. In response to the current COVID 19 crisis the QCWA Country Kitchens program continues to provide opportunities for members (volunteers) to support their communities to gain food literacy and healthy lifestyle skills.

During this time of uncertainty, the Country Kitchens team have adapted from traveling to regional, rural and remote communities to using our social media platforms to remain connected to their QCWA members and communities and share our passion for healthy eating. QCWA members are invited to post videos or photos of recipes they are cooking from basic pantry stocks on our @qcwacountrykitchens Facebook platform.
